I wonder how many kids got themselves killed imitating this ad?
(from Modern Comics #85, 1949).

Ironic Synchronicity Department: The address for Specialties Manufacturing Company — 1367 N Sedgwick in Chicago — is literally right around the corner from my Dad’s print shop (from ’73 to ’03).
They were long gone by the time we were there, or else I would have spent all my allowance there instead of at Bizarre Bazaar. The address is also mere blocks away from the Cabrini Green housing project, which had more than its share of children playing with guns.
And soon, in fearful symmetry, the remains of said housing project will themselves shortly join Specialties Manufacturing Company in that great gated community in the sky.
